Since August 10, 1995 it works as an independent institution, which provides graduates with state-recognized diplomas. The Academy has a qualified staff, high level training materials and perfect infrastructure; it uses the latest educational technologies and various forms of training. During the period from 1995 to 2009, Academy of Economics and Law has trained about 5000 specialists. At present it trains more than three thousand students, including one thousand 5 hundred full-time education students.

In Academy structure there are 2 faculties of full-time training (legal and economic), the part-time and dual-mode forms of education, 16 departments and 9 branch of departments in employers' organizations, educational administration, research department, education quality management and educational innovation  research centers, science and information center , the center of computer technology, publishing, educational and sports center, department of Personnel Management and center for continuing education. Faculty of Economics is running 5 master's programs.

Training of the highest professional staff in graduate school academy is carried out in six scientific fields. Rector of the Academy is Leonid Ten. In 2005 he be cam e the winner of international Socrates awards for his personal contribution to the intellectual development of society. Since 1995, at the Academy base International Institute of Management LINK has been performed training under program of Open University Business School. In March 2006 International Institute of Management LINK has been opened an office at Academy base for the realization of MBA additional education program.

In June 2004 the Academy be cam e the first non-state institution of higher education in Altai and Russia , which Management Quality System was certified in accordance with requirements of GOST R ISO 9001- 2001. In May 2007 the Academy held a recertification of Management Quality System. In June 2005, the International Education Society (IES, International Education Society, London) awarded the degree of certification E/RUS/BBB/I/aa/18333 to Altai Academy of Economics and Law where B ВВ - is (institution which is managed with high professionalism), I- is long-term programs, aa – teaching staff consists of the first-class professors and high levels practice personnel. In 2005, Altai Academy of Economics and Law for its active work in the realization of economic, environmental and social programs of city and region by the act of the Board of regents of the International Charitable Foundation “Patrons of the Century” has got a Gold Certificate. In October 2006 the Rector of the Academy was awarded the title "Russian leader in quality" and was elected a member of the Industrial Council of the Russian quality organization. In June 2007 the Rector be cam e a member of The Institute of Quality Assurance - IQA , UK . This Institute maintains a register of the most qualified professionals in the field of quality. Since September 2007, Academy has been realized the adaptation of existed Academy Quality Management System in accordance with "a model of quality", recommended by the Russian Ministry of Education. Due to the transfer to a standard model of the quality system Academy joined the membership of participants of educational and methodical innovation project “Testing and implementing of a education institutions quality system model”. In 2008 the Academy received a certificate "Good supplier of the year" for production efficiency and products competitiveness and International Quality Management Standards compliance. In July 2009 Academy of Economics and Law was acknowledged as a price-winner of the contest "Golden Medal" European Quality» in competition the 100 best higher schools of Russia and gained a diploma and gold medal" European quality ". Rector Leonid Ten was awarded the honorary degree "The Rector of the year”. The Independent Social Council of the 100 best universities in Russia contest awarded Academy in the category "The best higher institution in the partnership of science and industry. Socio-economic administration department gained the price winner in the category "The best training department of the Year.
